  • Texts and Translations

    Muusika – Pärt Uusberg

Somewhere the original harmony must exist,

hidden somewhere in the vast wilds.

    In Earth's mighty firmament,

in the far reaches of swirling galaxies,

in sunshine, in a little flower,

in the song of a forest,

in the music of a mother's voice,

    or in teardrops-

    somewhere, immortality endures,

and the original harmony will be found.

How else could it have formed

    in human hearts- music?

O Radiant Dawn – James MacMillan

O Radiant Dawn, Splendour of eternal Light,

Sun of Justice: come, shine on those

    Who dwell in darkness

    and the shadow of death.

    Isaiah had prophesied,

    The people who walked in

darkness have seen the great light

Upon those who dwelt in the land of gloom

    a light has shone. Amen.

Let My Love Be Heard – Jake Runestad

    Angels, where you soar

    Up to God’s own light,

    Take my own lost bird

    On your hearts tonight;

    And as grief once more

    Mounts to heaven and sings,

    Let my love be heard

    Whispering in your wings.

El Manisero – Moisés Simons, arr. Jorge Alberto Martinez

    Peanuts, peanuts, peanuts

    So if you want something

    enjoyable for your mouth

buy me a little bag of peanuts.

    Little housewife don't sleep

without eating a little bag of peanuts.

They are so warm and delicious

that one can't ask for more.

Little housewife don’t let me go

    because then you’ll be sorry

and it will be too late.

    When the street is deserted

    little housewife of my heart,

the peanut vendor sings his song

and if a girl hears my singing

    she beckons from her balcony.

Give me some of your peanuts

    because tonight I won’t

be able to go to sleep

without eating a bag of peanuts.

I Love You / What a Wonderful World – arr. Craig Hella Johnson

    We can be together now and forever;

I love you, I love you.

And when I’m praying, I hear him saying

“I love you, I love you.”

People all over the world, they’re opening up,

    they’re coming around

and they’re saying I love you,

    I love you, I love you…

I see skies of blue and clouds of white,

    bright, blessed day and dark, sacred night;

    and I think to myself,

    “What a wonderful world.”

The colors of the rainbow, so pretty in the sky,

are also on the faces of the people going by.

    I see friends shaking hands,

    saying, “How do you do?”

They’re really saying, “I love you.”

    I hear babies cry, I watch them grow;

they’ll learn much more than I’ll ever know,

    and I think to myself,

    “What a wonderful world.”

    Trilo – Ale Moeller

A Swedish folksong, depicting longing for someone at sea.

    Hands – Jocelyn Hagen

A wordless vocalise, depicting music's capacity to cross cultural boundaries and speak louder than words.

    Fire – Katerina Gimon

Fire is a fun, lively, and energetic work incorporating vocal percussion, body percussion, nasal singing, calls, and nonsense syllables.

We Shall Be Known – MaMuse

    We shall be known

    by the company we keep

By the ones who circle round

    to tend these fires

    We shall be known

by the ones who sow and reap

    The seeds of change, alive

    from deep within the earth

    It is time now,

it is time now that we thrive

    It is time we lead

    ourselves into the well

    It is time now,

and what a time to be alive

    In this Great Turning

we shall learn to lead in love

Ring of Fire – June Carter, arr. Stephen Calgaro

    Love is a burning thing

And it makes a fiery ring

    And bound by wild desire

I fell into a ring of fire

I fell into a burning ring of fire

    I went down, down, down

    and the flames went higher

    And it burns, burns, burns

The ring of fire, the ring of fire

The taste of love is sweet

    When hearts like ours meet

And I fell for you like a child

Oh, but the fire went wild

I fell into a burning ring of fire

    I went down, down, down

    and the flames went higher

    And it burns, burn, burns

The ring of fire, the ring of fire

Steal Away – arr. Stacey Gibbs

I ain’t got long to stay here,

When my work down here is done

an’ my race down here is run,

    Then I’ll steal away home.

Steal away, steal away, steal away to Jesus.

    Steal away, steal away home.

I ain’t got long to stay here.

    My Lord, he calls me,

he calls me by the thunder.

The trumpet sounds within-a my soul.

I ain’t got long to stay here.

Steal away, steal away, steal away to Jesus.

    Steal away, steal away home.

I ain’t got long to stay here.

Say Her Name – Alysia Lee

Say her name. She cannot be forgotten by us.

Put her name in the air. Say her name.

    Sandra Bland

    Riah Milton

    Breonna Taylor

    Michelle Cusseaux

    Rekia Boyd

    Latasha Walton

She – Laura Mvula, arr. Paul John Rudoi & Chris Foss

    She walked to watch you

    with her head down low

She wondered if there's a way out of the blue

Who's gonna take her home this time

    She knew that this time

    wouldn't be the last time

    There she waits

    looking for a savior,

Someone to save her from her dying self

    Always taking ten steps back

    and one step forward,

She's tired, but she don't stop

She don't stop, she don't stop, she don't stop

She don't stop, she don't stop, she don't stop

    Every day she stood,

    hoping for a new light

    She closed her eyes and

she heard a smile voice say

You don't stop, no, you belong to me

She cried, maybe it's too late

She don't stop, she don't stop, she don't stop

She don't stop, she don't stop, she don't stop

My Heart Be Brave – Marques Garrett

My heart be brave, and do not falter so,

Nor utter more that deep, despairing wail.

Thy way is very dark and drear I know,

    But do not let thy strength and courage fail;

For certain as the raven-winged night

Is followed by the bright and blushing morn,

    Thy coming morrow will be clear and bright;

’Tis darkest when the night is furthest worn.

Look up, and out, beyond, surrounding clouds,

And do not in thine own gross darkness grope,

Rise up, and casting off thy hind’ring shrouds,

Cling thou to this, and ever inspiring hope:

Tho’ thick the battle and tho’ fierce the fight,

There is a power [in] making for the right.

Lead with Love – Melanie DeMore

REFRAIN: You gotta put one foot in front of the other and lead with love,

Put one foot in front of the other and lead with love!

Don’t give up hope. You’re not alone,

Don’t you give up, keep moving on. [REFRAIN]

Lift up your eyes and don’t you despair.

Look up ahead, the path is there. [REFRAIN]

I know you’re scared, and I’m scared, too

But here I am right next to you! [REFRAIN]

Don’t give up hope. You’re not alone,

Don’t you give up, keep moving on. [REFRAIN]
